When you’re part of a community, it’s nice to get involved. One great way to get involved and meet other members of your community is to be aware of the events and activities available in your area. Check out some of the fun Rutherfordton upcoming events.

On March 1st, you can treat yourself to a toe-tapping rock show at Legal Grounds. At 9:00 pm the Piedmont Boys will be performing an all ages show that you don’t want to miss. The Piedmont Boys have a great country sound, combining elements of bluegrass and rock music. In the past, they’ve been featured performers for West Coast rodeos and other bull-riding events. Join them for a great night of sweet harmonies and lively music!

On the lookout for treasure? You can always plan an outing to Rutherfordton’s own Broad River Gems Mining Co. One of the very best gem mines in North Carolina, you can do your own screening and panning down by the Broad River. And you never know what you might find. From gold to fossils, they have gems from all over the world, waiting to be uncovered. It’s a unique experience and great family fun! Call 828-286-1220 for more information.

The Rutherford County Symphony is a real asset to the local community. Their next concert is Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Isothermal Community College. Best of all, it’s free to attend! Originating in 1988 as a fifteen-member string ensemble, the orchestra is now a volunteer symphony with 60 members. Support the arts and your community and welcome spring with the Spring Concert. And remember, if you play an orchestral instrument and you might be interested in being a part of the symphony, you’re welcome to join them for a rehearsal.
